Mit einem Widget können Sie DV-Bänder kopieren, ohne sich einen teuren
DV-Videorecorder anzuschaffen.- Der DV-Camcorder muß weder eingeschickt noch umgebaut werden.
- Sie schließen das Widget an Ihrern Camcorder an und schalten mit einem Knopfdruck den Eingang frei.

Was macht das DV-Widget?
Das DV-Widget greift in die interne Betriebssoftware des Camcorders ein und schalten so den DV-Eingang frei.
Für was benötigt man überhaupt einen DV-In?
Der DV-In ermöglicht zum einen ein Kopieren von Bändern von DV- zu DV-Camcorder. Zum anderen können Filme, die auf einen PC eingespielt
wurden, nach der Bearbeitung wieder auf den Camcorder zurück gespielt werden.
Wie erfolgt die Freischaltung?
Ganz einfach (plug-and-play): Das Widget in die entsprechende Buchse (Sony und Canon =
LANC-Buchse, Panasonic = Digital Still Picture Buchse, JVC = JLIP-Buchse) einstecken und Taste am Widget drücken. Die Freischaltung erfolgt automatisch innerhalb weniger Sekunden. Ein Eingriff
in den Camcorder oder das Einsenden des Camcorders ist nicht notwendig!
Bleibt auch nach der Freischaltung die Hersteller-Garantie erhalten?
Mit dem DV-Widget kann die Freischaltung jederzeit wieder rückgängig gemacht werden. Diese Rückschaltung erfolgt genau so einfach, wie die Freischaltung. Nach der Rückschaltung befindet
sich der Camcorder wieder im Originalzustand und somit bleibt die Hersteller-Garantie voll erhalten.
Können auch analoge Videos überspielt werden?
Dies ist nur bei Sony Digital 8-Camcordern möglich, da bei diesen Geräten nicht nur DV-In, sondern automatisch auch der Analog-In (Hosiden und Cinch) freigeschaltet wird. Dadurch ist es z.B.
möglich, „alte“ analoge Bänder auf den D8-Camcorder zu überspielen. Dabei werden die analogen Signale automatisch digitalisiert.
Wichtige Information, falls Sie den freigeschalteten Camcorder in Verbindung mit einem
Computer verwenden möchten:
Wenn die Filme von einem PC auf den freigeschalteten Camcorder überspielt werden sollen, könnte es seitens des PCs Probleme geben, wenn der PC keinen Treiber mit dem entsprechenden
Steuerprotokoll für den Camcorder als Aufnahmerecorder besitzt.
Dies hat zwar mit dem Widget nichts zu tun, ist aber wichtig für Sie zu wissen. Es gibt
grundsätzlich zwar keine Probleme, mit dem Camcorder auf den PC zuzuspielen, aber umgekehrt könnte es ein, daß der PC aufgrund des evtl. fehlenden Steuerprotokolls den Camcorder nicht als
"Videorecorder" anerkennt. Abhilfe kann hier nur der PC-Karten-Hersteller schaffen, in dem er einen Treiber mit entsprechenden Steuerprotokoll zur Verfügung stellt.

Frequently asked questions
How does the Widget work?
Virtually all DV camcorders are designed and manufactured with the DV input enabled. In the
European Union import duty is higher on DV-IN enabled camcorders than on camcorders that are DV-IN Disabled. Camcorder manufacturers prefer to pay a lower import duty and therefore most
camcorders imported into the UK have the DV-Input Disabled. DV-IN Disabled camcorders have a software switch that turns the DV-Input off, the Widgit simply switches this back on.
How do I use it?
Simply connect the Widgit to the camcorder and press the button on it. It is as simple as that!
Do I have to open up the Camcorder? Where does the Widgit plug in?
You do not have to open up the Camcorder, the Widgit simply plugs into the LANC socket on Sony
& Canon camcorders, the JLIP socket on JVC camcorders and the Digital Still Picture Socket on Panasonic Cameras. These sockets are either located on the camera or in some cases a docking station that accompanies the camera.
Does the firewire signal go into the camera through the Widgit?
Once the DV-Input has been enabled, the DV socket on the camera acts as both the input & the output.
Do I need the Widgit to be connected all the time?
Once the camcorder has been DV-Enabled, the Widgit can be removed.
Is the process reversible?
Yes, the Widgit will also Disable the DV-Input of the camera if it has been enabled.
My next door neighbour also has a DV Camcorder, can I use my Widgit on his camcorder?
The Widgit will only work on the camera it was purchased for. It cannot be used on more than one
camera.
Can I use the Widgit to record from my VHS machine onto DV tape in the camcorder?
On Sony Digital 8 camcorders, the Widgit will enable the analog inputs so that you can record from
analog equipment onto digital tape in the camera. This is not possible on other makes & models of camcorders.
Does using the Widgit invalidate my guarantee?
We have had discussions with Panasonic regarding this issue. They said that because the camera
is not being opened up or dismantled in any way then using one of our Widgits will not invalidate the warranty. Remember, it is a reversible process.
If I bring my camcorder into you will you enable it for me?
Yes we will, but 99% of our customers do it themselves. It is so simple. Full instructions are supplied.
